Massachusetts Auto Accidents: Do You Really Need an Attorney?

According to a study by the Insurance Research Council (IRC), injured people who used lawyers in their personal injury claims received more money that injured victims without lawyers.

Furthermore, these results were calculated AFTER the lawyer fees were paid.

So, why would you have any doubts about using an attorney to fight for your personal injury claim?
Insurance adjustors would like nothing best than to push you into proceeding with your claim, because they know chances are they will have to pay you more money if you are without a lawyer. Don’t let anyone push you into accepting a settlement proposed by the insurance company if you feel you are entitled to an attorney.

In some cases, if you are not injured or have minor injuries and if your vehicle sustained little to no damage, it may not be cost-effective to hire an attorney to settle your claim. You might want to check with a professional to see if your case is worth pursuing with legal help. That is the best Massachusetts personal injury law firms, like the Kiley law Group, offer Free Legal Consultations to any injured victim in a Massachusetts auto accident. (more…)

Have You Delayed Securing Your Flat Screen TV? Your Children May Be In Danger!

If you have a flat screen TV and have been putting off securing it to a console, do it today! The Journal of Clinical Pediatrics published startling statistics provided by researchers at Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus, Ohio concerning child injuries and these large top-heavy TVs.

The increase in this type of child injury is directly related to an increase in the number of   households who own flat panel televisions and many owners eagerness to begin enjoying them – delaying the task of properly securing them on a substantial base.

  • Injuries are up by 41% since 1990
  • 75% of children who are injured are under 6 years of age
  • 17,000 children were treated in emergency rooms in 2007  related to falling or unstable furniture (most for head and neck injuries)
  • Falling TVs accounted for almost half of these injuries
  • Injuries occurred from failure to secure TVs to a console (none in the study were secured)

Check your flat panel televisions for instructions on how to secure them. Young children are not aware of the dangers of climbing on furniture, or the risk of child accident injuries. The narrow bases that hold these televisions make them very top heavy and unstable. Perform a safety- check around your home and see what potential dangers lurk at your child’s level.

Let’s keep our kids safe!
