Membership

The American Lawyer Academy does accept new member applications.  Applications are reviewed by a committee and the quarterly member meetings and applicants are advised shortly thereafter on the committee decision.  There is no Application Fee.

The Membership Committee will carefully review all applications for membership and there is no set criteria for lawyers to be accepted into the Academy.  However, the committee places heavy emphasis on the following:

  • The applicant’s experience in the legal profession
  • The applicant’s reputation for legal excellence  in the legal community
  • The applicant’s reputation for integrity in the legal community
  • The applicant’s history of promoting excellence in their own  legal community
  • The applicant’s membership in other legal organizations
  • The applicant’s other writings, publications, and blogs
  • The applicant’s use of the internet and other technologies in the practice of law
  • The applicant’s willingness to participate and take an active role in designated projects
  • Other information provided by the applicant to qualify for admission into the Academy

Any member of the legal profession in North American can request an Application for Admission from the American Lawyer Academy.  The Academy will acknowledge receipt of the application and will inform the applicant of its membership decision within fourteen days after the next scheduled quarterly meeting.

Members of the American Lawyer Academy (ALA) are required to publish articles every month on this website as a part of their membership in this organization. The articles are required to be informative and provide the public with information and resources about current legal issues of importance to consumers and the public. The articles cannot be intended for individual promotional purposes and must be in furtherance of the objectives and principles of the ALA.

Each article will identify the author/lawyer so that readers and visitors to the website can learn more about the background of the lawyer. Visitors are free to contact the lawyer directly to discuss the substance of the article or to ask any questions about their own legal rights. There is absolutely no obligation to retain the services of a lawyer contacted from this website or through this organization.
